The Forecast Calls for . . . SUN!?
I have finally seen the light.
For the first time since I returned to Michigan on October 17, it’s sunny today. Not the fake, minor glimmer through the clouds sunny, either. Real sun that’s actually warming up the earth a bit. I’d weep with joy, but I know it’s not going to last. Alas, it will be followed by gloomy, gloomier and gloomiest days for the next seven months. Alas, alas, alas. At least I’ll be able to enjoy my afternoon run after work.
After a week of sunny Utah and Colorado weather (and a bit of New Mexico and Arizona), I was unhappy, to say the least, with last week’s Michigan weather. Some sun was what I needed to get rid of my (semi) foul mood.
This past weekend illustrated my need for sun more than anything. I basically confined myself to house arrest, choosing to surf, read and write (though not here, haha) all day instead of going out and getting some fresh air. Even my runs were done on the treadmill. The clouds had finally gotten to me; forget the fact that a run outside might have lifted my spirits; forget the fact that getting some fresh air would’ve cleared my head; forget the fact that brisk wind is better than stale heat. Nope, I chose to read about God (though not the Bible), laugh my ass off at the Ashlee Simpson debacle on SNL (thanks to fametracker.com) and write about how sucky it was outside. I was literally glued to a chair when I wasn’t on a treadmill. It was pathetic, but I was wallowing in my cabin fever misery. Why? I’m weird like that.
However, after going out at lunchtime for something to drink (unfortunately not something alcoholic), I was greeted by sun and a slight breeze. Ah, it felt good. The plan is to go home, enjoy a run in the sun, then maybe get myself out of the house for a bit (somewhere that doesn’t involve work). Then it’s homeward bound to do some more reading. The sun will definitely help to get me out of my funk.
Vacations are so much fun, but man, do they ruin you. Especially when you don’t have any windows in your office.

No! It was too warm today, not like fall should be at all. And later in the week it’s supposed to get up to 69 degrees. What the hell is up with that? I actually bought a lemonade to cool down…in late October! If I wanted year-round warmth I’d move to (God forbid) California. Ewww.
You don’t necessarily have to move to California to get warm weather, V. Then again, if you did, you could hang out with our cousins! WWPGD? Or is it WWPD? now that Mom hates G?
Hey, I like some parts of fall. But not when it’s cloudy for a week straight. Some sun is appreciated . . . it just lifts the spirit!
Did you get a beer with that lemonade?
69 degrees? I might get to wear a skirt again after all.
