Laughing and Perfecting the Fine Art of Slacking
Note that I did not end the title with "slacking off," my friends. Why? I hate ending sentences with prepositions.
Okay, I was going to stop with the screeching and the politics and the hissy fits regarding last week’s election, but I stumbled across this after reading this and I couldn’t help it. I was laughing my ass off for a good ten minutes. Ah, Southerners . . . it’s all in good fun. ;) You know we love ya!
Well, not really.
As I am fond of saying, I’m very glad Mexico lost the Southwest to the United States so we wouldn’t have to claim Texas, but California? You’re a-okay in my book. For now. Unless I am forced, in some way, shape or form, to visit my cousins.
Anyway, brushing that aside, I am honestly trying to get back to my pointless, annoying and WordNerd-centric posts. Inspiration is falling a bit short, but considering I’m going to have nothing to do for the majority of tomorrow at work, I’m trying to come up with something good. Something spectacular.
Besides spending the day trying to spread out my work as much as possible (I’d do more work, but given that this is our season’s end, there really isn’t any), I spent the day laughing at the forums at FameTracker and slumping around while our network went down twice. I actually took in a book to work (foresight is wonderful) and ended up reading while I couldn’t access my work. Everyone was either reading (well, just me) or talking on the phone; on the whole, a very relaxed day at work.
And despite my best efforts at slacking off, I nearly got my project done. I had to reign myself in; even with all the downtime, even with all the forum-reading, even with all the bookishness, I still nearly finished.
I just need to get better at slacking off, people. I am open to suggestions.

So you still can’t play computer games because of the way your desk faces? Have you looked at thesmokinggun lately? You could also start taking online surveys – but don’t waste your time with the ones that enter you in sweepstakes for taking them – only go for the ones with the guaranteed cash (or point) incentives. I’ve made $40 taking surveys with greenfieldonline.com. And I have enough points for a slow-cooker, carryon bag, or $50 charitable donation from zoompanel.com. And not a single spam e-mail has resulted from my participation in either site.
Alternatively, if you would like to spend some time putting together job applications, I could send you my CV, my research statement, some links to sites with jobs…how about it? :)
Hey, it’d work – we have a laser printer here! Anything to help get you out of ehbeeo. Those good-for-nothing, insincere, smarmy, think-they’re-smart-but-really-they’re-not, ungrateful, manipulative, cheap-and-stingy, sneaky bastards.
I have issues with ehbeeo, too.
And no, I still can’t play games here. That’s okay, though, I suppose. Maybe I’ll try the surveys and do the charitable donation thing.
The only problem? Our network is going down continuously. It’s seriously annoying me.
