Bah Humbug!

It’s Christmas at WordNerd’s house.  I’m not feeling it that much, though.

The tree is up and running.  The new fireplace mantle is nearly complete, and soon it will be decorated with lace, unlit candles and a Nativity scene.  The names have been drawn and the frustrated season of shopping for just the right thing begins.  The bright side?  I get to buy nice things for the people who mildly amuse me.  I’m so not emotional, right?

As my sister said last night, I find it hard to believe that I’m looking at the Christmas tree once again.  I find it hard to believe that the so-called "Black Friday" is over and done with – without my participation (I’d rather not get trampled at Meijer for a $19 DVD player, thanks).  Thanksgiving is done with, my four-day weekend is drawing to a close (sob!) and I’ve already made my first batch of Christmas cookies (which, thanks to this cold, really didn’t impress me – I’m considering tossing the baking out the window this year completely).  Like it or not, I’m already swept up into the Christmas season, no matter how unprepared for it I feel.  It’s here? I ask.  Yep, I answer, with all my actions and planning.

The new cold has made me a bit sluggish in terms of actually getting out this weekend and doing some shopping.  Thank God for Amazon.  What would I do without wireless internet access and wish lists?

I’ll get into the spirit of things, eventually.  I’ll listen to some Christmas songs, maybe that’ll put me in the spirit.
