From Bandelier to Briarwood

And now, we switch gears to a decidedly girly post.  I would discuss my vacation a bit more, but I’m still writing that up; besides, it seems like it’s going to be located elsewhere in the future.  Anyhow . . .

I have changed my colors from hiking fiend to shopping fiend.  Yes, I do change my colors according to my environment.  I’m surrounded by interesting topography that requires a healthy set of lungs, strong legs, and overall cardio endurance?  Let me at it, let me slap on my hiking boots.  Oh, but you drop me into a mall with lots of sales and stuff that I will fill out quite nicely?  Where the hell’s my debit card!?

Makes my boobs look goodSo I skipped out of the house last night to Briarwood Shopping Mall.  I immediately headed to JCrew – not only is it my favorite store, but you never know what you can find on sale.  I was pretty sure that I wasn’t going to find anything; after all, the skirt I had wanted to dazzle in at Dominick’s had sold out weeks ago, and it’s similar-patterned dress seemed gone, gone, reduced to sizes zero and two.  Imagine my surprise when I found my size (eight) and found out that the price had been dropped from a hefty $118 to a paltry $39.99?  Tell me, will I not look good in this?  Never you mind, I’ve already seen myself in it, and I look pretty smoking hot.  In fact, the dress prompted my sister to compliment me, saying that the dress brought out nice and tasteful cleavage.  Thanks, V!  So what to wear this dress to, you ask?  Well, it’d make a great sight-seeing dress (:D), it’d be something nice to wear to lunch or a summer dinner in the cheap showiness of nature.  Who says that a woman can’t find a beautiful dress to wear even though she has no weddings to attend this summer?  Falsehoods, all falsehoods.  And for so little money, I’d have been a fool not to grasp it in my hands as soon as I saw that magic number.  In sum:  Woo!  Hoo!

Fussy but cuteOh, but does it stop there!?  Of course not.  I found myself later in Banana Republic, desperately seeking out a blouse I’d wanted weeks back.  I was hoping to find it on sale, but alas, they were sold out completely.  Even online, it’s gone, gone, gone.  Sadness.  I tried to find something similar at Ann Taylor, but nothing doing.  I came home and proceeded to just surf around, to see if I could find something similar to the blouse.  Again, nothing doing.  Hitting Banana’s site again, I came across this fussy yet cute blouse – and I promptly went into three-year-old mode, screaming "I want it!" over and over again (not really – okay, I did it once).  So, bending to the pressure of the "Limited Edition" warning, still a bit miffed that I’d lost out on my first choice, I ended up getting it.  I won’t tell you the price because, while it wasn’t outrageous, it was a bit more than the dress.  I need to get a white cami for it (I only have camis in pink, purple and blue); after that point, I’ll pair it with a skirt for the summer, jeans for the early fall.  Oh, but won’t I look adorable?  Well, few of you would know, but trust me, I’d look adorable.

Must stop, though.  I try not to splurge often on clothes, but there are those items that just carry you away . . .

Though really, if I had a choice, I’d happily exchange these two for another week out west.
