Super Size the American Way

If anyone is thinking about slacking off on a workout, I have the perfect solution for you.

Imagine, if you will, it being around noon thirty.  You’ve run three miles, and all you want to do is stop.  You decide that, once you hit 3.25 miles, you will in fact stop, as you plan on running 6.5 miles at least twice this week – more than enough to boost your weekly total, and a good send off to the regular old routine before you begin your half-marathon training.  You’re listening to music, of course, and the song that you’re listening to is also a good send off for the day as it is your new favorite song.  Like I said yesterday:  Everybody, eh-oh-eh-oh.

As you’re about to hit the "Stop" button on your treadmill (because it is much too warm to run outside, at 6am or 12:30pm or any hour today), a new song starts on your iPod Shuffle.  "Super Size Me" by Toothpick, the theme song to the documentary Super Size Me.  You downloaded it, see, because it was hilarious and made you giggle like crazy as the credits on the documentary rolled.  Anyway, the song begins right as you’re about to stop.  As you’re about to cut short your five-mile run.  Think about the opening lyrics:

F-A-T, that is me,
But I didn’t used to be . . .

Now, yours truly is the opposite.  F-A-T, that was me, now I’m not.   If you’re like me, you’ll ponder the idea of stopping for a nanosecond after this song begins, then continue to finish your five miles.  It’s a very good motivator.

I suggest that if you want something to listen to that’s got a fast beat, will steer you away from fast food, and will encourage you to finish your entire workout, download the song here.
