Need to Update

It has been suggested to me, by several people, that I need to update my blog. I will try, I promise. Starting . . . right . . .

Okay, kidding, starting now.

Since I wrote my last entry, I’ve been able to run three times, and hope to run again today. On Saturday and Sunday, I was able to log 10 miles’ worth of running. The weather wasn’t the most pleasant (read: freezing!) and I really had no idea where I was going, but I was able to run those 10 miles. If all goes well and I’m able to get my butt up off of this bed, I will run another five miles today.

However, I still need to find a solution to my weekday running. I might have to join a nearby club, close to either home or work, but we shall see. Before I go exploring Rock Creek Park on my own, I’d like to hike through there a little bit with my boyfriend so I can familiarize myself with the area and find out where I feel safe and where I don’t. I passed it on my runs a couple of times, but wasn’t inclined to duck into it (though I did end up on the Capital Crescent Trail for a bit). I keep thinking that I probably don’t want to run it alone (I need running friends, stat), but then I realize that I rarely see groups of people running together (except for that odd, older group running by me on Saturday morning–including the woman wearing bunny ears). I usually see solo runners, and appreciate running solo (it’s the best, frankly), but in this area and being so new, I’d like to get a running group started (or rather, join one). I’d also love to find people who are training for the New York Marathon in November.

Moving on from running, on Saturday I was able to get rid of the troublesome mess that was my hair and cut it to a style similar to WordNerd, circa early 2001, newly graduated and employed. I love, love, love having short hair. As nice as long hair can be, I can’t do much with it–if I knew how to do up-dos, if I knew how to get it to not catch on shoulder straps, it’d be a joy. However, unless something requires me to grow it out, I’ll stay at this length for a while. I have noticed, with glee, that I am not shedding as much hair as usual (my boyfriend will attest to the fact that my long hair gets everywhere). Simply put, the shorter hair seems more me.

The last time I cut my hair, I went to Dominick’s a few days later. Can’t do that this year. Oh, the pain. Sure, I miss my family, but Dominick’s. Oh, Dominick’s.

The move, while expensive, has been relatively easy save for a few snafus. I’m still waiting for my phone service to be set up–if you are planning to move to the D.C. area, if you can, avoid Verizon. Get another telephone provider, get another DSL provider (or get cable internet access), get another cell phone, but avoid Verizon like the plague. Their customer service department is lacking, they can’t explain any processes correctly, and they take 17 days to get your phone service up and running (and, in my case, I haven’t even gotten to Day 17 yet). Stupid Verizon, God, I hate them.

I also had an issue with my furniture, but that has more or less been resolved. I might get a phone call next Saturday as early as 6am telling me when they’ll deliver the piece they forgot to order, but at least my dinette will be functional by next Saturday. I hope.

I think I have sufficiently updated, since I have now run out of things to say. When all is settled, updates will come with more frequency.

I hope.
