Overheard at the Supreme Court
“This is us just before the hearing. Unfortunately, her stay of execution was not granted.”
So said my boyfriend as a visiting friend of mine snapped a picture of us in front of the Supreme Court. I found it odd that, of all places, she wanted us in front of the Supreme Court. While we’re both all for justice, there is very little justice in our relationship. I rule, he drools. Yeah!
Seriously, though, this weekend was a busy one, and I’m still quite tired from it. Couple it with an intense day at work, and you’ve got yourself one tired WordNerd. I am not keen on getting up tomorrow morning, but seeing as how I have to run tomorrow (any amount of miles will do at this low point in my running career when I’m trying to train for a marathon) and go to work, chances are I’m going to get myself out of bed. Somehow.
IP and I took my friend all over DC, seeing the sights. I have to admit that I am not a very good hostess–IP is much better at playing tour guide than I am. I have a hunch as to why I’m not that great of a hostess to friends, but that would involve giving away some details of my job, which I don’t want to do. I had fun, I suppose, but after two weekends of being away and not doing my regular routine, I’m ready for a relaxed, calm weekend. Or a more predictable one, at least. Admittedly, a couple of things that my friend did made me twitch with supressed annoyance, but I got over it relatively quickly . . . sort of. Let’s just say that I like to bitch, bitch, bitch.
Okay . . . I haven’t updated in a long while, but I find myself with curiously little to say. The new Paul Simon CD comes out tomorrow (woohoo!), and I hope upon hope that my package of clothes arrives tomorrow (my father shipped it a week ago today). I’m glad Monday is over since it seems like the rest of the week will be a breeze compared to today (famous last words, right?). Let’s all join hands and hope that Verizon stops being such a bitch to IP, and that my sister coasts through her last class so she can officially be done. Let’s hope that little brother M had lots of fun at CP, and that older brother A finds a cheap ticket to DC (I swear I’ll be a better hostess to him). Off to finish my laundry and then, mercifully, sleep.
Indeed I did. :)
Glad to hear it!
