The Second Weekend in June 2006
This blog is in serious need of a substantial update, most especially the book list. No, I haven’t read 10 books in three days, but I have purchased just about that amount in three hours. Or less. IP and I hit two used bookstores today, spending approximately $30 each on lots ‘o books. IP recouped 10 of those dollars thanks to a $10 bill tucked away in the copy of Thinner he had purchased. I was flipping through my new buys at IP’s apartment when I heard an astonished “Holy shit!” and looked up to see IP holding a crisp yet old-style $10 bill. We each flipped through our other books to see if his luck was going to expand or pass onto me, but alas, nothing.
I will be adding a new book to the book list’s Finished section soon, though. No, it’s not Don Quixote; it is, however, a book by another Spaniard, so does that count? No? Okay.
But all in all, the weekend was a really nice one. IP took me out for my birthday dinner on Saturday night (and took me to Baskin Robbins afterwards so that I could indulge in a strawberry cheesecake milkshake), and we had a relaxing evening on Friday night. I ran three days in a row (woohoo!). I bought many books to satisfy my literary curiosity (among those, Dorkus will be pleased to hear, was The Golden Ass). And now, it’s 9:37 PM, and I’m sort of dreading the next week and wishing this weekend would rewind itself. But, I know that’s ridiculous; I’m worried about work, obviously, but everything will turn out fine with the assignment I have (which is going well, but it’s still my first biggie, so I want to do well). Once this week is over (it’s the last two days of the week that have me worried, really–the last two days of the week! C’mon, I can do this!), I’ll be able to regroup, set up for my next big assignment (two weeks after this Thursday), and work hard to correct any problems that might affect the next biggie; after that, it’s off to Michigan for three days. I will thankfully have plenty to read on the plane, as sitting next to IP for any extended period of time is a difficult task.
I kid, honey! Because I love! ;)
I’ll try to update in the following days with more of my thoughts and speculations on the New York City Marathon. Wish me luck for Thursday and Friday, blogsphere that doesn’t read my blog!
P.S. I really need to change this category’s name.

You’ll have to read The Golden Ass as soon as possible and tell me what you think of it. Of course now you’ll be able to poke holes in my argument :)
I’ll read The Golden Ass soon, I promise. I’d have to re-read your thesis in order to poke holes in your argument, which I just might do just to annoy you! ;)
