Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Marathoners . . .

I haven’t told anyone this, but yesterday, at around Mile 19, I took a spill. I was slowing down to walk for a bit, but my foot caught on something, and down I went. I immediately twisted to the side as I fell (gotta love the fact that at least I can react and fall on where it’s less likely that I’ll get seriously hurt) and ended up with a nasty, nasty looking bruise on my shoulder. A biker asked me if I was okay, but most people didn’t express concern. Me, myself, and I got up, dusted myself off, said I was okay, then kept on going.

I took pictures of my lovely bruise this early afternoon, but I didn’t have time to upload them before coming to work. Since I will not have an opportunity to upload or probably not even post until Tuesday, I will update this entry then. But yuck, does my arm look horrible. I didn’t even think the fall was that bad. Perhaps I need more iron in my diet?

Ouch, Wordnerd, that sounds really painful. I’m glad you were able to dust yourself off and keep running. :)

Me too! I let out this horrible sounding “Ugh!” as I fell. I must’ve sounded like one deranged runner. :)

At least that biker was nice enough to ask if you were okay. I hope those bruises heal quickly.

Kind of off topic, but did the Hawaiian earthquakes hit where you’re going next week?

Yeah, that was nice of him. I do hope they heal quickly because they are unsightly.

Anyway, yeah, the earthquakes hit about 155 miles from Honolulu, which is where we’ll be landing and staying. I can’t say this increases my enthusiam (which has been slowly but surely waning).

    Iron helps us play!

Do you think your conference could be cancelled?

Hehe, iron helps us play. Hehe.

Thanks for sending along the Shanny commercial. I love it when he shouts “I love you, too, my brother!” Hehehehehe . . . Too bad the poor man has gone to the New York Rangers to die a slow hockey death. The NYR: The Graveyard of the National Hockey League.

The conference isn’t going to be cancelled. We’re full steam ahead.
