Happy Wintry Valentine’s Day

Oh, the humanity!

Freezing rain, snow and wind—the perfect trio to make my office completely empty. I am the only person here, and it’s pretty lonely. Echo, echo?

Having just returned from Florida, this was a nasty return to reality. Having spent four lovely days in Florida (even the day it rained was lovely), I was reluctant to return to the sleet of Washington, DC, but I had to. After sun, pools and the ocean (which was cold, but I still had a bathing suit on), I was not ready to come back to the horror of winter.

And really, coming from Michigan, DC’s weather isn’t that bad. Sure, it was slippery—I dusted off my pair of YakTrax (those things are a hell of a lot of work to get on) in order to get to the Metro without slipping and sliding the whole way—but other than that, was not enough for me to be in an empty office. I do, honestly, wish I was still in bed, but not because I feared the weather. I just figure that if everyone else gets to be at home, why not me? I love not having kids, but if kids and school cancellations bring you so many more additional days off, perhaps I can borrow kids from time to time.

At 6:45am, I took a picture of the usually-busy 16TH Street. The street was deserted, with cars passing by every 30 seconds at the most. Even when I finally trekked out at 8am (and got stuck on the Metro for an hour and 45 minutes), the streets were pretty deserted. Picture to come later—WordPress was acting up when I tried to post earlier this morning.

As a final note, a very happy Valentine’s Day to all, and especially to IP, who confessed last night that he did not get me a card and that we had nothing planned for the day. Which is perfectly fine with me—the chocolate would go straight to my thighs, flowers would die as soon as they entered my apartment (I am poison to plant life), and a small, cute, indefensible teddy bear might get eaten by Scorpie.

Happy Valentine’s Day, WordNerd. Over here we got about five inches of snow, not too bad, I guess. I can only imagine how DC is reacting to the mild snowfall.

I’d be more worried that a small, cute indefensable teddy bear would get harrased by Stevie Bear ;). Which reminds me, there’s a possibility that the Wings might sign Forsberg. Ugh.

Forsberg? Really? Um, think that’ll go over well?

At least it’s not Joe “Gotta Be Like Stevie!” Sakic. Can you imagine? “Hey, can I have number 19!?” Uh . . . no.

StevieBear kind of takes a back seat to Scorpie these days. I mean, you kind of have to; Scorpie’s a kid, but he’s a giant scorpion.
