Weekends, Time Changes and Crazy People, Oh My!
Life has been crazy lately, thanks in no small part to crazy-ass people. Recovery has been minimal, and the weekend was not enough; I was shorted one hour of my life three weeks too early, and I want it back, Ed Markey! Add tomorrow’s fun-filled event in which I was almost roped into a situation for which I am not qualified (crisis averted, though), and you’ve got a WordNerd who will once again be sleep-deprived and at the mercy of people’s whims.
However, this weekend did consist of lots of rest. Saturday, rest came into play because I am a huge baby and felt the need to be dramatic (which I usually am not, unless I am in the presence of my family). IP and I relaxed on Saturday, had a nice little fight, made up when I decided to be a woman and apologize for being pissy, and then hit Baja Fresh and Giant before retiring to my place for some drinks and lots of talk. As always, our late night conversations left me convinced that I can talk to my boyfriend about anything, and I believe he really feels the same way. After seven months (cough::fiveyears::cough) of knowing each other last week (the dating anniversary isn’t until April), we still connect—and continue to find out new things about each other all the time.
Sunday? Well, Sunday was sleep, sleep, sleep. Needed, too.
Unfortunately, given how crazy life has been, there has been little time to update the blog. I have finished two books and need to add them to the book list, and am steadily plowing through a new one. I am already browsing Barnes & Noble for more reads (even though Borders began in Ann Arbor, they’re associated with Amazon.com and they donate mostly to Republicans, so I stay away) and need to tackle all the books I bought during one of our (IP and me, that is) afternoons at the local used bookstore.
I also have a friend visiting the DC area this weekend. She has a very good feeling about the interviews she’s going to have on Thursday and Friday, and feels there is a very good chance she could end up here after she finishes her master’s. Because I am mostly blah about playing Ms. Tourist, I wasn’t too enthusiastic about it at first, but now am looking forward to it. It will be fun to relax with a college buddy; maybe she’ll get good reads from her interviews and we can start tentatively planning all the plays we’d hit together. It would be very nice to have a college friend around; there are people I know from my days at the U-M around here, but no one I’m close to. It will be great to catch up with her—we haven’t seen each other in years.
The plan for the weekend after this coming one is to take Nyquil together on Friday or Saturday night at 7pm. As much fun as this weekend could be, I’m really looking forward to Nyquil Weekend.
After that, Colorado.
