Obsessively Analyzing . . .

. . . The most recent Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix trailer at Yahoo! Movies. The movie looks pretty damn good; it is the event that will kick off the summer of Harry Potter. The events only span two weeks, but includes the end of the series. My siblings (all of them), a friend and I will be at Borders in Ann Arbor on July 21 at 12:01am. Oh, sob. I don’t think it’s a fair contest—you may now assume, at this early date, that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will take the categories of Best Book, Best Fiction and Best Plot-Twist in the Second Annual Sonnet87.com Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence (or, The 2007 Book Awards). However, back to the movie—it looks visually striking, the tone is as dark as it should be for Book Five, and the trailers is full of the little details that devoted readers love. Phoenix, for me, is the hardest of all the Harry Potter books to read—it is amazingly sad, both in what Harry has to experience and what he has to lose. We shall see how they translate onto the big screen.

. . . My arms. I have been weight training for nearly four full months, and I believe the evidence is starting to show. My triceps are getting amazingly strong—I again had to move up in weight today in order to be properly challenged. There are dips and curves and solid muscle where before there was just flab. Combined with some recent food intake monitoring, I have successfully lost four pounds in two weeks. Dare I hope to tone up the muscle and tone down the flab a bit more as summer approaches?

. . . What I am going to report on my on-site satisfaction survey for the most current event I had handled. I will not say much, as I do not like to discuss work, except for this: you do not take two weeks to answer one question. And I should not have to call in a senior member of my team to get you to answer it; I am in charge at that late date and you damned well better start recognizing it.

. . . The ING New York City Marathon website. My brain knows that the lottery is not held until June; furthermore, my brain recognizes that I will not be running in New York City this year regardless of my lottery status because I plan to defer any entry until 2008. My brain knows that the website will not yield any clues as to what my status is; my brain knows that going to New York this year would be insane given that I might find myself in Hawaii again at the same time of year. However, that doesn’t stop me from scanning the website for more news. I must get used to visiting the Marine Corps Marathon website.

. . . The navy blue suits on Banana Republic’s website. I have decided that if I continue to be a good workout drone and lose a few more pounds, I will reward myself with said suit—jacket, pants and caprisfor versatility in the summer.
