If the Metro’s Open, I’m There
2007 May 1
Thanks, Metro, for facilitating my transportation to a good cause. I have been slow in signing up, but I finally registered for the 2007 Komen National Race for the Cure 5K. I don’t typically sign up for races in the Metro DC area because I really have no way of getting to them—Metro runs way too late and I don’t fancy bugging IP out of bed all summer long. But I’ll do what I can.
The race blogroll will be duly updated.

Hey, really like your blog, and it’s inspired me to sign up for some of these races myself. I was working out more before but have been slacking off lately, so they’d be perfect motivation.
PS – have you ever gone to any of the local Hasher runs? I heard from an ex-Hasher friend that the “every day is Thursday” one is a ton of fun (running then drinking, what’s not to like :)
Hi sunchaser—glad you like the blog. :) Shorter runs are always great motivation; longer runs take a bit more effort, but there’s nothing like finishing a half or full mary. Are you thinking about Marine Corps, by any chance?
I’ve never heard of the Hasher runs. When I first moved to DC, I vowed that I would be active in my local running club, but that, er, that never happened. Like I said, it’s tough to get to races on weekends. However, the run and then beer? Definitely a plus!
Here’s a link about the “Hash House Harriers” (from Wikipedia) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers
And here’s one with a calender of the hash runs in DC:

I don’t live in DC anymore, but if I do come up I may try to get to run of the hashes.
The Marine Corps Marathon.. wow. Maybe… I’ll keep you posted. That gives me what, 4.5 months to train? :0
Thanks for the links, sunchaser. :)
The marathon’s about 24 weeks away–I trained for New York in 18 (NY was my first). It’s definitely doable. I’ll probably follow the same plan. :)
