Coming Up on the Next Episode of Sonnet 87 . . .
2007 May 14
Spring is one of my favorite times of year, the other being fall. I like times of transition, of nature and my life being in the middle so to speak, and the anticipation that the transitions bring. The weather mostly cooperates (save for tomorrow in the DC area, apparently), and there’s excitement in the area, usually because there’s a lot to look forward to during this time of year. Behold, what comes from spring and summer 2007!
- My birthday is a week from Friday. I have the renewal of my gym membership to look forward to (thanks, honey!), gift cards from Target (thanks, family!) and dinner somewhere with good beer. I have asked that I not be given a cake, but that IP and I buy different pieces of cake from the nearby deli (ya know, taste testing and what not). I am in my last year of my 20s. Contrary to what you may believe, that does not depress me.
- As my birthday is the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, I have a long weekend in which to adjust being 29. I also know that the pool at my complex will be opening, and although IP and I will not hit the pool that weekend, we will shortly enjoy the cool, refreshing, cool waters. And I will also even out the tan that I got this weekend (my right side is tanned; my left side is not).
- I will be running in my first 5K in forever on June 2. It’ll be a good re-introduction to racing before I start marathon training seriously.
- My mother and sister will be visiting me the weekend of June 8. That should be good fun—a girls’ weekend, so to speak. I will be flying to Michigan in July, but my mother will be in Mexico at that time. However, my mentioning July leads to . . .
- The Harry Potter releases! Both the last book of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and the fifth movie of the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, will be released in July. My friends and family will be joining me for the movie, for dinner, and for the book release on July 20 – 21.
- Shortly after seeing my friends in July, I will get to see them in August as we all attend a mutual friend’s wedding in Grand Rapids, MI. I am looking forward to this, actually—I just got pictures from the bridal shower, and the bride looks happy and lovely. Wedding planning seems to suit her. I am hoping that my refined eating habits and dedication to exercise will find me looking radiant for the pictures that will inevitably be taken.
- After that early August wedding, IP and I will most likely fly out west and have ourselves another hiking vacation. I’m tentatively lobbying for the Pacific Northwest; however, everything is still up in the air. IP has not lobbied for any area in particular; he is just lobbying that we leave DC in August for a week. He does not have to twist my arm.
- It’ll be Scorpie’s first birthday in August, too! Aww, my baby’s getting so big . . .
Quite a bit to look forward to, and I have a feeling the calendar will fill a bit more before the month is out.

Go, go, go! :)
With the change in my travel plans, I’ll be here for your race. I will come cheer you on…if it’s not too ungodly early! :-8
Aww, thanks, guys. :) I will do my best to run well and make you proud. ;)
The run starts at 8am, and I’ll be done a little before 8:30am if all goes well. IP, you can always buy me breakfast at the deli that day instead of getting up early.
Gotcha, by the way! :-=
Hey, are you going to try and raise money for the MC marathon?
I just found out about the “Team in Training” for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (money goes to research cures). They have local chapters around the country, but I haven’t really explored the website.

I’m working on a leukemia study right now. It’s amazing how many people w/AML type (adult onset usually) leukemia are smokers or former smokers – don’t ever start smoking!!
Don’t worry about smoking on this end—my dad’s instilled a healthy dislike for it in me. :)
I don’t raise money because I’m just not that good of a fundraiser. I was the kid who always came in last for those school fundraisers where they gave you anything from an eraser to a TV. I don’t think I could ever reach goal. It’s a great organization, though. I know people who’ve traveled to Hawaii and Alaska to do marathons for TNT.
