I said no. She glared at me for a moment and said, "Why not? Don't you like cashews?" I was so stunned that I didn't even say, "What I don't like is trying to be upsold when I'm paying for the thing I came in for." Wish I had. I don't advocate being unfriendly, but a clerk/customer relationship is not a friendship. I think "I'd rather not say" is as polite as you could have possibly been to the clerk. "None of your business" would have been appropriate, but you did better.
